The difference

Why one-on-one care changes the experience.

Your appointment is built around you, your goals, and your provider’s clinical judgment.

01

Time with your therapist

Our one-on-one model

  • One patient per therapist per hour.
  • A full clinical hour, 50 to 60 minutes, directly with your PT.

Traditional in-network model

  • Up to three patients per therapist per hour.
  • About 20 minutes with the PT; the rest with an aide or assistant.
02

Privacy and setting

Our one-on-one model

  • Individual appointments in a private room.

Traditional in-network model

  • Patients share a large room with other patients.
03

Treatment decisions

Our one-on-one model

  • Your PT determines the plan based on current best practice and evidence.
  • We focus on the individual. Not every injury occurs for the same reasons.

Traditional in-network model

  • The insurance company decides what treatment is allowed and covered.
  • Focus shifts toward billed charges.
04

Access between sessions

Our one-on-one model

  • Available by email or phone for questions between sessions.

Traditional in-network model

  • Questions are answered only during your scheduled session.

Payment and insurance

Out-of-network care, explained clearly.

Why out of network? Because we are out-of-network, we can tailor appointments and take the extra time to make sure you get the care you need. Patients get better more efficiently than in a traditional high-volume PT setting, which also minimizes long-term costs.

Before scheduling. For private insurance, payment is due at the time of service. Our team can verify benefits, provide an estimate, and help submit claims; coverage and reimbursement depend on your plan. If you have Medicare, please call 703-349-1030 before scheduling so we can discuss current availability and the right next step.

Frequently asked

Questions patients ask before getting started.

Do I need a doctor's referral?

Virginia is a Direct Access State, so most patients can start physical therapy without a physician referral. Requirements can vary by situation and plan. Please call us before scheduling if you are unsure whether a referral is needed.

How do I know if physical therapy can help me?

We are happy to schedule an evaluation to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for physical therapy services. If your diagnosis is out of our scope, we will work with you to determine an appropriate referral. If you have questions, please call 703-349-1030 or email info@greatfallspt.com to determine if you would benefit from an evaluation.

Do you take insurance?

For private insurance, Great Falls Physical Therapy is an out-of-network provider. We can review your benefits and provide an estimate before your first evaluation. Payment is due when services are provided. If you have Medicare, please call us to discuss your situation before scheduling.

What does out-of-network mean?

This means that Great Falls Physical Therapy has not contracted with your insurance company for reimbursement at a negotiated rate. We can give you one-on-one time and attention to reach your health goals, unlike conventional in-network practices.

What should I wear?

Please arrive with comfortable clothing that you are able to move in.

How early do I need to arrive?

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your initial evaluation if you still need to complete paperwork. Please feel free to utilize our outdoor covered porch on the Village Centre Green while you wait.

When might a child need pediatric physical therapy?

A child may benefit from physical therapy evaluation and/or continued care for delays with gross motor milestones, generalized weakness, difficulty maintaining the same activity level as peers, difficulty with gross motor movements such as walking, jumping, or running, frequent falls or balance concerns, tight or stiff muscles, pain, or poor endurance and easy fatigue.
